Certified Public Accountant

The accountant

Project Duration
One year

I got the idea of becoming a CPA from the the movie, The Accountant. Despite the movie not having anything to do with actual accounting, I thought it would be beneficial to become educated in finances and accounting. This’ll help me when I start my own business. Besides, I had some months of free time during my senior year where I could handle the extra workload.

Since I already was on the senior year of my first undergraduate degree, I had a leg up on the needed 150 credits to sit for the CPA exams. All I would need is the necessary accounting credits and a years worth of experience to complete the requirements.

Western Governor’s University – Needing to complete my credits as soon as possible and with as little time wasted as possible, WGU was the perfect solution. Not only would they accept some of my current undergrad credits, but their competency progression model allowed me to move at my own pace. This meant as long as I passed a final, I would get credit for the class.
